Digitech Attends CEDIA EXPO 2011 in Indianapolis

Digitech Custom just returned from CEDIA EXPO 2011, an annual tradeshow for the residential electronic systems industry, held this year in nearby Indianapolis. And we’re happy to report we saw some very compelling products while there! The conference featured many of the brands and products we use everyday in our home theater installations and audio/visual solutions. We stopped by several of their booths including Sony, Crestron, Control4, Lutron and JVC to see the latest and greatest products they’ll be offering in the near future—and we were pretty impressed. One of the new products that really caught our eye is Lutron’s Battery-Powered Shades. While Lutron is generally regarded as an expensive provider of motorized shades, these new battery-powered shades are moderately priced, beginning at just $299. We think these shades will be the perfect finishing touch for any home theater. Other new home theater products and topics from CEDIA EXPO 2011 –    New CinemaScape update from Kaleidescape –    Sony and JVC unveil new 4K resolution Home Theater Projectors –    Control4 revealed a host of new products –    Creston’s digital media trade program –    APC’s network controlled surge Digitech Custom also mingled with some new companies as we walked the tradeshow floor and we can’t wait to introduce some of their products and technologies soon—it will be worth the wait, we promise! But the conference wasn’t all work and no play. At the CEDIA Electronic Lifestyles® Awards Banquet on the final evening of the event, attendees were treated to a special performance by Alizma, a group featured on the hit reality competition show, “America’s Got Talent.” Overall, we’re very excited about...
Go Digital With Your CD Collection

Go Digital With Your CD Collection

When was the last time you played a CD? A couple years? Longer? The reality is that you invested a lot of time and money in your CD collection, and if you haven’t already migrated them to digital format, now is the time. Get the most bang for your buck by going digital—and you’ll be able to enjoy your collection forever. Maybe you haven’t converted your music to digital files yet because of the time factor. At a rate of six CDs an hour for six hours a day, it would take several months to convert your entire library of music. Who wants to spend that much time popping CDs in and out of their computer? Not all CD-ROM drives are equally suited for digital audio extraction, or CD conversion – also known as CD ripping. After extensive testing on a variety of drives, we have selected and implemented hardware capable of consistently perfect rips. We will rip your CDs for you—in a fraction of the time. Digitech Custom offers this service. Both offer high-quality CD ripping and quick turnaround time. And if you’re wondering if going digital is just a passing fancy, it’s not. Digitech Custom service includes two very impressive technologies: our technology has an error-correction technology that restores even some of your most well-used CDs. Say goodbye to pops, skips and clicks! ID3 tags and metadata helps organize your music by taking into consideration all the defining characteristics of each song including artist, album, title, genre, and more. Some may wonder whether this type of CD ripping is legal. No worries: under the Fair Use Copyright...

Sonos IS Multi-room Music

We’ve all been there: You’re bouncing around the FM or satellite dial, trying to find just the right radio station to complement a long drive, an evening at home or an afternoon spent working in the garage. Sometimes, you get it right… And other times, you’re left wishing you had a broader scope of options from which to choose. Let’s take it a step further: You’re working on a project in a specific room of your home while listening to a favorite piece of music, only to more than occasionally be summoned to a different area of the house, thereby missing large chunks of your tunes. Enter Sonos. A modern marvel that seamlessly blends instant access to endless music, superb wireless function, a flexible multi-room system and simple setup, Sonos is a must-have for any music lover. Back to that search for the perfect radio station: 100,000 is a big number when applied to almost any scenario, but consider that number in terms of broadcasting stations. That’s what Sonos puts you in touch with! And the listening options are scattered worldwide, at the touch of a finger through a very easy to use navigation menu. So, if your Sunday afternoon spent cleaning the garage pairs perfectly with the Latin beats of a Brazilian FM station, Sonos will make that happen. It’s easy to sell a product with eye-catching information like you just read in the preceding paragraph, but with Sonos, the operational nuts and bolts are just as impressive. Simply put, multi-room music is Sonos’ mantra; they’ve designed a multi-zone music system from the ground up, and that’s a...

CE Pro 100. Again.

Digitech Custom Audio and Video has called its location along Station Drive in Carmel, Indiana home for a decade now, but we’re proving to be equally comfortable in another locality… The CE Pro 100. For the fifth time in the last six years and for the seventh time overall, Digitech has earned a spot in the consumer electronics magazine’s prestigious list of the industry’s top 100 revenue earners. CE Pro’s list, a veritable who’s who of the A/V world, is compiled according to billed business from residential installs that incorporate home audio, lighting controls, security systems, structured wiring, networking, etc. Digitech’s acumen with all of the above — and more — landed it firmly within the roster. Landing a spot on a list that also includes industry giants like ADT is no small feat — especially considering Digitech boasts just one location and more employees than only 23 of the 100 — and company president Mark Vyain is justifiably proud of the accomplishment. “Digitech is very appreciative to again be included in the CE Pro 100,” Vyain said. “Our inclusion in such a prestigious list is both humbling and rewarding, and is a testament not only to our commitment to excellence, but to the hard work of our staff as well. It will feel good to hang another CE Pro 100 plaque on the wall – I’d like to think it means we’re doing things...

APC Battles the Weather

Severe weather has been a hot-button topic of late, to say the least. Even in a normal year, which 2011 certainly has not been thus far, the spring months in Indiana are known for rough storms. More often than not, those storms bring lightning and heavy rain, and both bring the possibility of extensive damage to your electronics. Thankfully, there are buffers to put between you and Mother Nature — specifically, American Power Conversion products. APC is Digitech Custom Audio and Video’s leading choice to protect your equipment, as well as the priceless photos, videos, music and movies you store. Offering products ranging from power conditioners and surge protectors to uninterruptible power supplies, APC literally has a unit for every conceivable A/V, computer or data storage application. “We had a client whose basement flooded… There were at least a couple inches of water everywhere,” said Randy Leffler, Digitech installer.” This person had an APC surge protector as part of his basement system, and the water completely wrecked it. It was ruined, but it protected all his equipment. He had no further damage.” Rough weather aside, power bumps or outages can occur anytime of day or year, making it crucial to implement a power management strategy in your home. APC has you...
